Why holistic?
At Applewood Orchard, we offer a holistic approach to fruit tree health by applying sprays that enrich both the trees and the surrounding soil with beneficial microbes, NPK, fatty acids, and trace minerals. Much like how probiotics and vitamins support our gut biome, these natural amendments bolster the trees' immune systems and enhance their innate defenses against pests and diseases, promoting healthier crops without relying on harmful chemicals.
HEALTHy soil
Plant health begins in the soil. It’s important to maintain good soil fertility by trapping in moisture, especially during the driest months. We keep our apple trees permanently mulched. Fruit trees should grow in soil more fungal dominate than bacterial. Adding organic matter such as wood chips, leaf mulch, etc can help build soil to be more fungal dominant. Trees grown in healthy soil are more capable of resisting disease, tolerating insects, and survive the hottest months.
organically grown
Choosing organically grown fruit not only minimizes your exposure to harmful chemicals often used in conventional farming but also provides you with a richer source of essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Additionally, relying on all-in-one pest and disease control solutions may inadvertently harm beneficial organisms and increase chemical exposure, undermining both environmental health and personal safety. Supporting organic farming aligns with promoting sustainable practices that prioritize your well-being and the integrity of the ecosystem.
